How do I book my end of course examination?
Both our HSA and SMETS eCourse have an end of course examination that you must pass before you are eligable to download your certificate. Once you have fully completed the course material on the CITB eCourses platform you will see a button appear on your dashboard that says ‘BOOK FREE EXAM’ Once you click on this button it will ask how you would like to take your exam, online or at a test centre. You will then proceed with following the instructions to book your preferred date/time with Pearson VUE.
Once you have completed your booking, the date and time of your exam will show on your CITB eCourses dashboard.
I've already passed the HS&E test for Operatives, do I need to book another exam?
The HS&E test for Operatives is a standalone test and is needed for a CSCS card application, but it does not complete the Health and Safety Awareness eCourse. To apply for a CSCS Green Labourer card, you need to pass both the HS&E Test for Operatives and the exam that follows the Health and Safety Awareness eCourse. You will only receive a certificate for your eCourse once you pass the eCourse exam.
I need to cancel or reschedule my exam.
Should you need to amend or cancel this booking you may do so by clicking on the ‘Manage my bookings’ link underneath your booked exam, then look for the options to cancel or reschedule to the right of your booking confirmation. Online examinations can be cancelled or amended up to 30 mins before the examination is due to start.If you are scheduled to take your examination at a test centre , you may not amend or cancel your exam if it is within a 48 hour window before the exam date/time.
Once you have completed a rescheduled booking, the new date and time of your exam will show on your CITB eCourses dashboard and you will receive confirmation that it was successful. If you do not see either confirmation, please re-attempt the booking or contact the eCourses team. The last page of a rescheduled exam booking should be confirmed otherwise you original exam will remain in place.
What accommodations are available to delegates taking a CITB eCourse exam?
The following accommodations are available when you choose to take your examination at a test centre, we do not offer these accommodations for online examinations:
- British Sign Language
- Reader/Recorder
To book your exam with either of the above accommodations please follow the instructions above to as far as selecting you would like to take your examination at a test centre. Do not go as far as selecting a date/time, Pearson VUE will need to make this booking for you. You can then contact Pearson VUE directly by emailing VUECITBeCoursesSupport@pearson.comor calling 0345 850 8789. Once they have completed your booking, the date and time of your exam will be shown on your CITB Dashboard.
What happens if I fail the end of course exam?
If you fail the end of courseexaminationyou can retake it. All you need to do is log into your CITB account, locate the ‘Book Exam Chargeable’ button on your Dashboard. This will then take you through the same process as your first exam booking, select how you would like to take your exam, then proceed with following the instructions to book your preferred date/time with Pearson VUE.
The first attempt of your examination is included in the price of the course. However, should you fail, you will be charged £21 for any subsequent attempts.
Once you have completed your booking, the date and time of your exam will be shown on your CITB Dashboard.
I am using an Apple Mac and an error has appeared at the point of checking into my exam?
Please be aware that CITB have been made aware of an error message that occurs during the examination check in stage. The message reads'OnVUE can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.'
Apple are aware of the issue and are looking to resolve this as soon as possible. However, in the meantime there is a workaround provided on the official Apple website, please use this link to access ithttps://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchleab3a043/mac.
