  Boulder City was created in 1931 to house the workers who built Hoover Dam. When Boulder City was constructed, it was considered a model community that offered few of the vices of neighboring Las Vegas. That tradition continues today, as Boulder City is the only city in Nevada with no legalized gaming.
  Although Boulder City is known for its small-town environment, the city actually claims the largest geographical area in Nevada – more than 200 square miles. The downtown area is home to a quaint shopping district, and several of the city's original single-row houses continue to serve as single-family dwellings.
